Success Story
Queensland Treasury
Background
Queensland Treasury engaged us to act on their behalf in relation to a site selection for a sensitive project. The project was the subject of a proposal put forward by a semi government body where Queensland Treasury would become the owner of the property or the financier. Queensland Treasury was concerned with the site itself and potential problems with the site.
The proposal itself was politically sensitive and also was extremely sensitive from a local perspective, including the local government and the local residents.
Queensland Treasury engaged us to carry out extensive searches of the site and to carefully analyse the results. The site itself was a large site made up of many different pieces of land all with different owners and issues. Queensland Treasury also required that we understand and take into account the political sensitivities with the site and its selection.
Solution & Process
We put together a multi disciplinary team from our Government area. This included both property lawyers and commercial lawyers but also was headed by our most experienced government lawyer.
We met extensively with Queensland Treasury and also the local council so that we fully understood the political sensitivities and the site issues. We also put together a methodology and system to carry out extensive searches for each block of land.
We carried out all of the searches and then put together an exhaustive report for Queensland Treasury on each block of land over the entire site. We did this whilst taking into account the political sensitivities.
Outcome
Queensland Treasury was extremely happy with our report. It was thorough and allowed them to deal with the proposal and the extensive issues with the site. It also allowed them to deal with the political sensitivities with the knowledge provided by the comprehensive report.
