DibbsBarker welcomes returning insolvency team

DibbsBarker is pleased to announce the return of Wendy Jacobs as a partner in the Banking, Insolvency & Disputes team. Wendy was previously a partner with the firm from 1997 to 2013.

Specialising in reconstruction and insolvency, Wendy works with insolvency advisors and directors of companies dealing with actual and potential financial difficulty. She has particular expertise advising on reorganisations and restructures in the retail, insurance, financial services and building and construction sectors. Throughout her career, Wendy has acted in many of Australia’s largest insolvencies and reorganisations including HIH, Lehman Brothers, Retail Adventures and the Keystone Group of companies.

Wendy re-joins the firm along with senior associate Masi Zaki, who also previously practised as a lawyer with DibbsBarker. Like Wendy, Masi’s expertise lies in insolvency and restructuring work.

Both Wendy and Masi are based in DibbsBarker’s Sydney office.

Commenting on her return, Wendy said: “It’s wonderful to once again be part of DibbsBarker’s Banking, Insolvency & Disputes team, where my area of expertise is a strong focus. I also always found the culture at DibbsBarker to be highly collaborative. One of the things that most attracted me back to the firm was the opportunity to work with high quality practitioners in areas that are complementary to my practice, teaming up to deliver seamless service to our clients.”

Scott Guthrie, partner and head of DibbsBarker’s Banking, Insolvency & Disputes team, said: “We are pleased to welcome Wendy back to the firm for several reasons. First and foremost, she is an excellent practitioner with a fantastic market reputation. Our clients and people will benefit from Wendy’s vast experience working on complex matters. Further, Wendy’s return is another large step in our strategic re-investment in the restructuring and insolvency market which commenced with John Stragalinos’ appointment in Melbourne last December, and which is set to continue. It is a pleasure to have both Wendy and Masi back in our team in Sydney, adding further bench strength to our growing practice.”
