DibbsBarker has again been named by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) as a leading Australian patent firm, achieving various acknowledgements in the 2017 edition of IAM Patent 1000 – The World's Leading Patent Professionals.
IAM publishes this specialist guide once a year to highlight top patent practices in key jurisdictions around the world. It identifies firms that are deemed to be outstanding in this area of practice, as well as individual practitioners who are leaders in the field.
As a firm, DibbsBarker was again ranked in the litigation and transaction categories. This year, IAM has highlighted our team as “[i]nnovative, easy to deal with, strategic and pragmatic” with a “client-centric, business-conscious approach to patent mandates”.

Two DibbsBarker partners have also been acknowledged with individual rankings in this year’s guide. Achieving recognition in the transactions category, Rob McInnes is noted as “especially skilled at drafting and negotiating patent licences and is among the select few Australian practitioners to have passed the US certified licensing professional qualification”. Scott Sloan was recognised in the litigation category, with commentary noting that he “packs a punch in patent conflicts” and runs his cases efficiently, drawing on his legal knowledge and “honed strategic instincts”.
The IAM Patent 1000 guide is created through an extensive research process that takes place over several months. It is widely considered to be a particularly prestigious publication in the intellectual property field.
