Peter is a partner in our Insurance Services Group. He is also a member of our National Insurance Industry Group.
Peter practises primarily in administrative and compensation law, as well as being experienced in all areas of insurance litigation. Peter has acted on behalf of various Commonwealth departments for over 10 years.
Peter’s wide-ranging government experience has allowed him an in-depth appreciation of the realities and practicalities of how government works, resulting in the attainment of high-level skills in diverse government legal work.
For almost 14 years, Peter has been acting for both Commonwealth and State review bodies, and is considered one of the most experienced practitioners in Commonwealth workers’ compensation in Queensland.
At a federal level, Peter’s experience and advice broadly covers recommending future conduct, investigating factual material, drafting documents, representing the Commonwealth, advising on application and appeal prospects, and appearing on behalf of the Commonwealth at conferences, directions hearings and full tribunal hearings. At a state level Peter has provided advice with respect to a divergence of requests for review of decisions in terms of the application of the state worker’s compensation legislation regarding issues of liability and/or entitlements.
Peter has become adept at tailoring solutions to his clients to achieve the dual purposes of legal practicality and commercial viability, while also working within tight government timeframes and strict policies and processes.
