Rachel is a senior associate in our Insurance Industry Group.
Her expertise is in the areas of insurance litigation, including compensation law, involving both Commonwealth and state workers compensation matters, FOI and privacy and public liability claims.
Rachel’s experience includes providing advice to commonwealth government departments in respect of their decision making and regularly represents government departments when their decisions are being reviewed by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Federal Court. Rachel also appears on behalf of various commonwealth government departments in both formal and informal settlement processes.
More particularly, Rachel has provided, and continues to provide, legal advice and representation to Comcare and its authorised licensee holders including the Department Veterans’ Affairs Military, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission. Rachel also provides legal advice and representation to the Department of Defence in respect of judicial review matters before the Federal and Full Federal Courts.
Rachel’s experience also includes providing advice to State Government Bodies on administrative law and judicial review issues, including the operation of the Freedom of Information Act. Further, Rachel has also provided advice and legal representation to State Government Bodies, including WorkCover Queensland and Q-Comp with respect to state workers' compensation claims, and worked in-house with WorkCover Queensland on two occasions.
