Rachel is a Special Counsel in our Insurance Services Group and our national Insurance Industry Group.
Rachel’s expertise lies in the areas of insurance litigation, compensation law, both commonwealth and state workers compensation matters, FOI and privacy and public liability claims.
For over ten years Rachel has provided legal advice and representation to Comcare and its authorised licensee holders, including the Military, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission within the Department of Veterans’ Affairs on all facets of decision-making relevant to commonwealth workers’ compensation claims.
Rachel regularly represents these clients when their decisions are being reviewed by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and appears as an advocate in both formal and informal settlement processes. This extends to assisting clients with the provision of advice and legal representation in relation to commonwealth workers’ compensation matters before the Federal and Full Federal Courts.
During her years of practice, Rachel has also provided legal advice and representation to the Department of Defence in respect of judicial review matters before the Federal and Full Federal Courts. She has also advised state government bodies on administrative law and judicial review issues, including the operation of the Freedom of Information Act and acted on behalf of state government statutory bodies, providing legal advice and representation with respect to state workers' compensation claims.
Rachel regularly presents seminars and conducts training sessions for commonwealth government departments, authorised licensee holders and private insurance companies on topical commonwealth workers’ compensation related issues. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce.
