Rob is a consultant in our Corporate team.

With over forty years’ experience both locally and internationally, Rob works principally in the areas of corporate and commercial law including corporate advisory, equity finance, mergers and acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, technology commercialisation and consumer law.

With a strong focus on the life sciences space, Rob’s interest in the development and commercialisation of new technologies has led to his appointment to the boards of a number of companies. He is currently the Chairman of Cellfield Pty Ltd and a Director of Arthropharm Pty Limited, BioPharm Australia Pty Limited and Sylvan Scientific Limited. He also previously served on the board of medical device company Rescare Holdings Ltd (now known as ResMed Inc) for ten years.

Rob regularly speaks at conferences relating to research and development, and the evaluation, promotion and financing of intellectual property and technology. He has previously been invited to the Department of Treasury in the US, the Department of Finance Revenue in Canada and the Departments of Research and Technology in France and Germany to discuss research and development, taxation policy and industry development issues, on behalf of the Australian Government.

More recently, Rob formed part of the taskforce that developed the first edition of the Code of Best Practice for Reporting by Life Sciences Companies – an initiative of AusBiotech and the Australian Securities Exchange and was part of the review panel for the second edition. The Code provides practical guidance to companies on meeting their continuous disclosure obligations and on communication with investors.

Rob’s commercial experience and depth of knowledge, coupled with his many significant roles, means he is able to provide high-quality, commercial and pragmatic advice and assistance.

In addition to his legal qualifications, Rob holds a CPA, Masters of Commerce and a Doctor of Business Administration, where he completed a thesis entitled ‘The Technology Entrepreneur’s search for capital’. Rob is a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants, the Law Council of Australia, the Law Institute of Victoria and the Law Society of NSW.
