Having practised in the intellectual property field since 1988, Scott is well recognised within the Intellectual Property community. He represents a wide range of clients in the medical and pharmaceutical, manufacturing, FMCG, media, and sustainable energy industries, as well as clients in the government and education sectors.
Scott’s practical experience includes the conduct of significant copyright, trade mark, patent, confidential information and competition law litigation, as well as advising in relation to the creation, structuring and commercialisation of IP.
He has acted for a leading multinational medical device company in one of Australia’s most significant patent damages hearings, represented Channel Nine in its successful protection of the well-known trade mark the WORM, resisted an attempt to use representative proceedings in a patent infringement case, and is currently involved in a number of patent disputes, ranging from classic "generic vs. originator" pharmaceutical actions to disputes involving Innovation Patents for mechanical devices.
Scott has been a partner of the Sydney office of DibbsBarker since 1990. He was the managing partner of the Sydney Office between 2004 and 2007, and has served on both the Sydney and National firm Boards, including as National Chairman for four years.
